SUMMIT 6th Plenary meeting at Lund Unversity, Malmö

We gladly announce the date for the next and final Plenary meeting of the SUMMIT Consortium. We will convene on April 22 - 23, 2015 in Malmö, at the Clinical Research Centre, home of the Lund University Diabetes Centre.

Please keep the dates open in your agenda!

Also this year around 100 SUMMIT participants gathered for a 1.5 day Plenary meeting and a half-day training session. Venue for the meeting was beautiful Edinburgh.

Update presentations from the angle of the diabetic complications, as initiated at the previous Plenary meeting, alternated with strategic discussions on the project's ongoing Deliverables and the consortium dissemination opportunities.

For this year's Training Session SUMMIT had invited external and consortium speakers on the topic of Systems biology.

On the occassion of 49th EASD Annual Meeting, SUMMIT announces the first joint symposium of the IMI Diabetes Platform: "Opening a new chapter in diabetes research: recent results from the IMI diabetes consortia SUMMIT, IMIDIA & DIRECT"

Three collaborative European Public Private Partnerships will present their latest research on pancreatic beta-cell, personalized medicine in type 2 diabetes, and on late stage diabetes complications. Together they constitute the IMI Diabetes Platform, one of the most holistic discovery approaches in diabetes research today.

The meeting venue is the Llull Hall in Fira Barcelona, Spain. For the programme click here

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) workshop in Malmö.

The workshop, first in a series, was held at the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) of the Lund University in Malmö. It aimed at facilitating and intensifying the exchange of SUMMIT's robust methodological, data analysis and clinical expertise within the scope of decision making and planning for the candidate (bio)markers to be taken forwards for further validation. The participants also discussed the tasks needed to be performed over the summer so as to deliver the SUMMIT project  within the terms and time frames of the agreements.

27.02 - 28.02. 2013

The SUMMIT Coordinator Boehringer-Ingelheim (BI)  hosted the fourth SUMMIT annual meeting.

Over 100 members of SUMMIT gathered at BI R&D campus in Biberach and at the Maritim Hotel Ulm for the two–day symposium. With SUMMIT being in the advanced project stage of completing its highly complex discovery phase and preparing for the validation of its results, it was instrumental to further enhance cross-Work Package dialogue and multiple networking. Consequently, the meeting’s presentation format was changed from Work Package view  to disease indication-based approach.

The symposium was supplemented with a Training Session on Drug Discovery and Development led by BI pharma experts.

21.03 - 22.03. 2012

The SUMMIT Partner University of Padova hosted the third SUMMIT annual meeting.

The meeting was held at the historical Palazzo Bo, the central headquarters of the University of Padova and in the Department of Information Engineering. Besides the workshops and plenary presentations like in previous years, the 2012 agenda featured for the first time a comprehensive training programme. More than 70 participants took the opportunity for hands on training in the use of SUMMIT database and new software tools.

Taking advantage of Padova’s excellent clinical research expertise, the programme was concluded by a series of presentations on CVD prediction, vascular dysfunction and the renal structure in patients with type 2 diabetes.

29.03 - 30.03. 2011

The SUMMIT Partner German Research Center for Environmental Health/ Helmholtz Munich hosted the second SUMMIT annual meeting.

The two day meeting was held at the German Research Center for Environmental Health/Helmholtz Munich, Germany. While day one was dedicated to Work Package workshops, the second day was reserved for plenary sessions giving each of the five scientific Work Packages the opportunity to present outcomes from the workshops and, most importantly, to present project progress since the 2010 Kick-off meeting. Following the meeting’s mission statement “Communication – Interaction – Integration” considerable time was also reserved for the discussion of cross-Work Package topics.
